If things here are bad, it’s because of the United States. US supported all military dictatorships on South America and all corruption in all those governments.

This is the old ”fear game” from US, specially with all oil reserves that have been found here. It’s just a excuse to try to take over what don’t belong to them!

Indeed! But who US will blame for financial crisis? Al Qaeda is attacking the American financial system too? Hugo Chávez is responsable for the American materialism? Castro and the Russians are planning to invade Miami?

Hi Dani...
I’m glad you linked this, It gives me another writer/blogger/journalist to write and set the record staright to.
I like how the U.S. only thinks in trms of themselves...where do you think the drugs are moving to? Do you think tunnels are being built into the U.S. for illegal immigrants, maids and gardners, to ”sneak ” through the cracks? NO.. The U.S. is the worlds’s largest consumer of drugs, we common-folk in Mexico just have to bear the brunt of your consuming ways and hope we don’t or one of our kids don’t get shot on the way to school or a public holiday because of it.
Surely you don’t believe the rightousness and innocence of this link, I’d like to think you just saw an interesting title and thought you’d try your luck. However, you are true when saying:
”The next President may have to face critical decisions of diplomacy and/or intervention in our own hemisphere.”
There is no MAY about it...Your own American citizens are tired of billions being paid and taken from their hard earned taxes in order for the U.S. to fund WAR AND DEATH IN MASS..
The next president will have to start thinking DOMESTIC and stop stuffing thier pockets with WAR PROFIT and DRUG MONEY.. They will need to stop CREATING NEW TERRORIST and STOP the ones you have already created through your illegal arms dealings and support of rebel groups around the globe..when will you learn, it always back fires...
Misuse of MIERDA Innitiave funds...Maybe the writer should do a bit more investigation...those funds have been released and were still in verification, as Bush turned it into congress 3 days Late. And if you look at the real FUNDS..everything is set to be bought in the U.S., thus all funds are ear marked right back to the U.S. in over inflated arms, training, and programs.
Is it violent in Mexico? Damn Right, but it wouldn’t be that way if we weren’t killing eachother to keep supporting your habits.
One more thing..Human Rights violations by our soldiors? Ya, that’s true, it has happened, now take a look in the mirror..Let’s sit down and talk about your side...
This is a bilateral problem that needs to be adressed bilaterally and responsibility must be taken in the same way..

I am sorry for your loss, but you don’t seem to realize there is a very large picture, and not all of it is in our hands... The drug trade is horrific, that is not only our fault..I there were no buyers, it wouldn’t be moved thru Mexico and there would be no territory wars..
I do believe with Calderon in presidency, NOW is the time to act as he is one of the first president’s in a very long time who seems to actually care about what it happening...not because the ex-president’s and futre presidents will be anti- american..
I don’t feel insinuating AL-QUEDA is coming thru Mexico is very fair, without facts to back it up..There have been various published reports from both countries debunking that myth..
Illegal arms on the other hand are being funnneled thru the U.s. and finding the way to dru killers here.. That has been made a fact by both countries.
I will be the first to admit, we are in a terrible and horribly violent crisis here, but I feel as if you are saying the whole country is just watching, maybe even applauding it..We have very limited resources and trained personnel at the time (another thing calderon is working on) as well as eliminating the corruption.. I t won’t be done over night, but for the first time in a long time, the people of mexico are aware and we have a government willing to assist..we might not be on the exact same page, but darn close.
Even if we had everything in order, like I said, it won’t stop until the consumption stops...Please take note: this is on both sides, we both have faults, one assurance is for right now, with the resources we do have, mexico has managed to keep the killings, decapitations, etc from the U.S.
sorry for your loss, once again..Peace

Mexican woes can not be blamed on the U.S. unless you expect the U.S. to fix them? If the people of Mexico do not act & only look to blame outsiders then it is certain things will get worse there. recently border violence has gotten even worse on the U.S. border. All of my life (over 50 now) I never was afraid to visit Mexican border towns. But know we are. Doctors, restaurants, pharmacies, drygoods from U.S. tourists is drying up, literally. You all have to decide which way this mess goes. & you have the most at stake.

” the population of Mexico seem at times unaware of how dangerous the situation is rapidly becoming.”
Unaware? I mean no disrespect Mr. Magaña, but unaware? How can we not be..This is our life..This i my ten year old daughters life, my 2 sons life, my wife’s life..This is LIFE of my very nation.
I may have gotten heated in my previous comments, for that I apologize, but articles like this are attacking from so many ill conceived sides, it is ill, incorrect and unfair.
I know exactly what I have, I will not boast lies of a beautiful, innocent, carefree Mexico, with that said, there is no reason to state Al- Qaeda, Islamic rebels, and so forth are working from within...
Mexico has enough flaws, factual truths, choose anyone of hundreds and write 1000 articles..that I will accept.
I don’t know if you are any relation to Tony Magaña from McAllen, if you are, I honestly feel for your loss of a loved one here in the bloddy streets of Mexico...but understand I too am fighting and in pain..my loved one may be next..
You are right..WE have the most to lose, but ALL countries involved must do their part..The U.S. cannot say..”we sent you money..fix it” while making no internal adjustments..If it remains like that, you could eliminate Mexico from the face of the earth and the United States will STILL have a drug problem...Demand will be supplied, by Mexico, thru Mexico, or other...THAT is my point. The U.S. is only focusing on a very small piece of the puzzle, and yes, we are getting our asses kicked here..We are being SLAUGHTERED and our nation has been pilaged and raped by these narco-terrorist.
Please understand..We finally have someone trying to make a difference. President Calderon, I never thought I’d say this, has shown he wants change..but it won’t happen overnight, and it won’t be pretty. Lately the press has been saying Mexico is obviously slacking, really doesn’t have true intent on fighting this war..incinuating the mass killings lately show failure..I tend to see it differently..For years cartels have had free range and loyalty was laid swiftly in their hands, if not..it was bought..Times are changing, rings are being broken..Calderon will not be able to wipe out drug trafficking in the four years he has left..but he’s ruffling feathers, somethings that NO ONE has ever dared do to these cartels. They are having to think more, move faster, and yes, they are getting angry, impatiant, and sloppy..That is what you are seeing now..the effects of a country try to make change.

The U.S. is only focusing on a very small piece of the puzzle, and yes, we are getting our asses kicked here..We are being SLAUGHTERED and our nation has been pilaged and raped by these narco-terrorist.

By the way Mr. Magaña, if you would ever like to talk, feel free to send me a message..
I actually just posted two articles today on this very subject in my blog here on IB..
I am not conflictive by nature, just trying to survive.

If things here are bad, it’s because of the United States. US supported all military dictatorships on South America and all corruption in all those governments.

I can’t believe what I just read! Is that true?
Islamic fundamentalists have started getting into South America, too?

This is the old ”fear game” from US, specially with all oil reserves that have been found here. It’s just a excuse to try to take over what don’t belong to them!

Indeed! But who US will blame for financial crisis? Al Qaeda is attacking the American financial system too? Hugo Chávez is responsable for the American materialism? Castro and the Russians are planning to invade Miami?

You are absolutely right, Oscar.
Americans always blame others for their mistakes. They are never guilt, only victims!

thank you for the comments on my article. As you may have guessed I am Hispanic and was born in Mexico. I had a cousin needlessly shot to death in Mexico City. These are world problems that require awareness before they can solved.
